The Journey of Hungary in European and Global Context
János Csák is an economist, sociologist, management and strategic consultant, former Ambassador. Currently he is the Managing Director of his management consulting company Mobilnet Ltd., serves on the board of Gedeon Richter Plc. and Bank of China (Hungaria) Ltd. as non-executive director. Since 2016 he is the chairman of Design Terminal and the majority owner of Design Terminál and Brain Bar Budapest which is the biggest European festival on the future. His advisory work includes corporate strategy and finance, organisational development and leadership. János Csák is a member of the faculty at SEED, a business school based in Budapest.
During his career he worked in executive positions and as a board member for several companies in Europe, the USA and Australia including MOL Group (chairman), T-Mobile Hungary (chairman), and Creditanstalt Investment Bank (CA-IB), Budapest (GE Money) Bank, Falcon Oil and Gas, Wildhorse Energy Ltd. He worked as treasurer of Matáv (now Magyar Telekom) and managed the process to list the company on the New York Stock Exchange in 1997. In 1996 he was a Senior Treasury Advisor at Ameritech Corporation (Chicago, USA).
He is a member of the supervisory board of the Saint Francis Foundation of Déva. In 2003 he founded the Kálmán Széll Foundation a Business Leaders’ Association for Prosperity and Ethical Conduct. In recognition of his economic and social activities he was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary in 2010. He is married to Júlia Márton, they have four children.
Gergely Böszörményi-Nagy (Budapest, 1984), Founder of Brain Bar Budapest and the Executive Director of Design Terminal. He studied International relations at Corvinus University of Budapest and he is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at CEU Business School with a focus on entrepreneurship. From 2010 to 2012, Böszörményi-Nagy was deputy head of strategic communication department of the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice.
In 2012 Böszörményi-Nagy joined Design Terminal as strategic director. During his leadership, the company launched an extensive portfolio of early stage, non-equity incubation services for innovative enterprises, for which Design Terminal was awarded European Enterprise Promotion Awards by the European Commission in 2014. In 2016, following a general restructuring in the Hungarian public administration, Design Terminal made a transition to the private sector, and continues its operations as an independent non-profit organisation.
In 2015 Böszörményi-Nagy founded Brain Bar Budapest, the biggest European festival focused on the future. The annual event revolves around a three-day concentration of talks and debates on business, social, cultural, technological and political trends. In 2016, Google joined as strategic partner and Wired as international media partner for Brain Bar Budapest.
In 2014, the Hungarian edition of Forbes named Böszörményi-Nagy in its ’30 under 30′ list of successful young leaders, and Google, the Financial Times and the International Visegrad Fund named Böszörményi-Nagy among the ‘New Europe 100’, a list of Central Europe’s key figures in the digital economy.
